bleh, I give up on myspace... it annoys me
so... it's been awhile since I've updated this thing, and... I'm tired so I'm not gonna do it now :-D

basically, I am tired. again. erin is feeling multiple things at the same time, and they are as follows... impressed by a man who loves Jesus and a dear friend very very much, disappointed in the choices of another, confused/annoyed by the actions of another, anxious for the presence of another (whoever that is...), content with the presence of One alone
here is the conclusion I have come to, basically, on the way home. I know what I want. I know what I've waited my whole life for, I believe God is preparing someone amazing and is preparing me for that Mr. Amazing, and I'm not compromising. I'm not making excuses anymore, and I'm not trying to rationalize. It is what it is, and if it isn't, then it isn't. <-- that right there was profound, fyi. I don't want to talk myself into or out of anything. I only want what God wants, and I'm gonna just leave it in His hands- He has been faithful, He has led me through so much, how could I possibly doubt His sovereignty over every part of my life, especially this?
And do you know what? Right now, I can't think of anything better than to just sit at my Savior's feet quietly listening, learning, worshipping... especially at this time of year, I just want to be still, to take in the miracle as deeply as my human heart can, to be in wonder of it all, that my God would send His Son into this world, to walk the same streets, breathe the same air, see His Father's creation as I see it now, maybe even share in joyful laughter over the same little things I do... that's simply more than I can imagine
The simplest of all love songs
I want to bring to You
So I'll let my words be few
Jesus, I am so in love with You

"...oh my life is changing every day in every possible way...
...and oh my dreams, it's never quite as it seems, never quite as it seems..."
...haha, if you can name the artist, you get ten points, ah, the sweet (?) days of middle school ;-)
but seriously, i'm deciding not to decide anything for a long time, because every time i do, i just change my mind.
i think i have driven all over the state within one week's time, and i definitely had no intention of doing that... ended up in gordon b/c my doctor is super cool and called in my prescription there... wasn't until i hit ivey that i realized where i was going... wow, that seems like ten years ago, but then again, just like yesterday with this really bad dream stuck in the middle... did i mention i pulled an all-nighter last night?... so anyways, in just the past two days, i've been to macon twice and atlanta once, so basically, all i do is drive now. huh. it's not like i have to study for exams or anything.
do you know what would be really cool? if boys and girls could just be friends. i mean, is it really that hard? i am in full agreement with jessica, when harry met sally is 100% true (well, sorta...)
was watching the game, and i had to leave... the seahawks were absolutely humiliating philly... 42-0 just isn't right, especially in the third quarter...
ironically enough, these lyrics were stuck in my head today... ok, i lied, i'm not going to say what was stuck in my head, but God has this funny way of still, i don't know, doing His thing, because, i don't know, He's God, and He can do that, i guess... waiting patiently... and making no predictions, no promises, nothing... just waiting...
tomorrow is my free day, and when i say free, i mean free, for real! i'm sleepin' in, runnin' and makin' my Christmas cards and baking (and then i should probably run again... there's something wrong with cooks who don't quality control... extensively...)
i love this time of year so very much, and i cannot wait till exams are done, so i can go home and pretend to have money to buy Christmas presents with and decorate gingerbread houses and go carolling and sit around old, familiar coffee houses watching people make intricate structures out of candles and playing games by our own rules because we lost the directions and decorate the Christmas tree and strategically place decorations where the animals can't get them (or at least can't get to the more valued ones...) and drive around town at night marvelling at the lights and wonder how much the crazy people with more lights than new york city have to pay for electricity in december and listen to a charlie brown christmas (and dance!) and pretend to be able to sing handel's messiah and smell hot cider and bake and bake and bake and spend time with old and new friends just laughing and enjoying each other's company. this year will be different, because i know i will find myself in milledgeville to visit friends more than i planned originally, but if i don't have to worry about dumb gcsu, it's a pretty cool place :-) maybe i'll drive to my grandparents just for kicks. (or maybe i'll make five quarts of sauce and pesto to bestow on some more unsuspecting victims! i'm the biggest nerd ever!)
oh, i almost forgot about watching a charlie brown christmas... "how can you say someone is great who's never had his picture on a bubble gum card?"... oh, the profound lessons i have learned...
O thou that tellest good tidings of Zion, get thee up into the high mountain; O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
Isaiah 40:9

wow, so that was quite a weekend. that's all i have to say.
i lied. so wednesday was cool, because i might actually have been diagnosed (finally) and maybe i can actually get better! big maybe, but "there's always the hope..." and i have no cavities, so my day got even better :-D thursday consisted of cooking and eating and a bit o' football and that's about it, which is just how it was supposed to be. friday... went to the outlet malls, found lots of really great deals, but all of the checkout lines were about three miles long, so i bought nothing. yes, that's right folks, i didn't buy jack squat. caught up with the girls for the rest of the day and had way more fun than i've had in a long time. seriously, i thought my chest was going to break, we were laughing so hard. good times ;-) my birthday consisted of sleeping in, no running, no eating good, presents, family, and no alcohol. so basically, it was just another very nice, enjoyable day in the life of erin :-)
i got lots of fun stuff like cool family heirloom stuff (military pins, old jewelry, etc.) and a dvd that is going to teach me how to do irish dance (ha! how fun is that!?)
so... my life plans have changed again. as in, i don't have any right now. ok, that's a lie. in one year, i'll be packing up to leave milly for good, looking for a real job and a home of my own. with a greyhound that i'll have adopted :-) lookin at grad school at georgia state or possibly ministry, so maybe moody bible institute or southeastern. trying not to think too hard about it, because then i just convince myself that that's what God wants, and thus far, it hasn't worked for me, so i just have to pray about it. kind of amazing how my "life plans" have changed so dramatically so many times over the course of this semester. i went from desparately wanting to leave milly and go to emory for grad school for nutrition to wanting to stay in milly and teach, and well, the first part of that plan got blown out of the water almost instantaneously (if i'm really honest with myself, which i hate...) and the second part fell through last week, and now i'm back to square one minus emory with the addition of being completely indecisive about what i want to do with my life. a little help here? feeling just a little bit like i'm stumbling through the dark, even though i'm not... i make no sense... i'm going to bed.
"...every valley shall be exalted..."

haha, do you know what time it is? two in the morning. ask me what time i have to leave... um, six in the morning, as in four hours from now. ask me if i've started packing... because i haven't. ask me if i've gone over the senior staff meeting junk... because i haven't. ask me if i've finished laundry... i think you can guess the answer to that. i hope starbucks opens early.
sometimes i wonder why my anger is always delayed. if it doesn't arrive on time, it just shouldn't come at all. that makes no sense. i am tired. and should sleep. now.
i'm going to run a marathon next year. apparently. hm.
major life-changing decisions were made last night. because that never happens. tossing around other ideas, but i'm going to keep them a secret. ha.
my toes are cold.
i don't want to go to the doctor tomorrow. or three doctors. whatever.
i desperately want to go to tuscany.

i think i found myself this weekend
i went home and just sat in my room. i pored over old letters from friends and newspaper clippings. i looked at all of the books on my bookshelves, from the one i used in an attempt to teach myself latin to much-loved novels to ones i read simply because i wanted to learn something new, to seek a broader understanding. i found bins full of art supplies i used to use to make things for friends. i found stacks of notecards and remembered how i used to always give cards to people, it was some kind of freak addiction. and then i found my music. no, not tapes or cds, but written music. and i pulled out my violin, and after a frustrating bout of tuning, i played. and i played. for about two hours, i played whatever i could get my hands on. strangely enough, even after two years of not touching the thing, i remembered it all. i can't explain what music does to me. it's an out-of-body experience, a road traveled, not merely a song heard. to listen to songs, there is such a powerful effect on every part of me- my heart beats fast, my mind is uncontrollably drawn into far-removed, fantastic realities. but to play. now that is something entirely different, a broad expansion of simply hearing notes. it becomes a part of me. nothing can interrupt that perfect harmony of musician and music, and in finding that flawless beauty in music, however flawed it may be played, i am at peace.
ok, back to reality. so, saturday, i helped diane set up for an event at Central Park, so i went for a nice little run (apparently i am a "nice distraction"... people are weird). basically, the rest of my weekend consisted of baking three turkeys and lots and lots of muffins. literally. baked all night. tis the season. then, church this morning and painting and cleaning and other odds and ends in east point. then back here. need to get a start on stuff for tomorrow. busy busy day. would really like to be home since family is already rollin' into town, but you can't have everything. should unload my car... in the rain... fun
The heart breaking makes a sound
I never knew could be
So beautiful and loud
Fury-filled and we collide
So courageous until now
Fumbling and scared
So afraid You'll find me out
Alone here with my doubt
Here it comes a beautiful collision
Is happening now
There seems no end to where you begin and where I end now
You and I, collide
...love that song :-)

it took six hours, yes, that's right SIX hours for that stinkin' coffee to wear off... i guess for someone who only drinks water and the occasional green tea, i got what i deserved... i swear, i coulda run 8 miles at 4am (cuz i've never done that before...)
it is cold, and i love it :-D
tomorrow is friday, and i love that too
i'm in a beethoven mood
i am frustrated with men. and i will say no more. for now.
honesty is not always the best policy. but i want to honestly beat some people. ok, now i will say no more. for real.

wow, do you know how amazing my God is?!
the past few weeks have been, um, rough, to put it lightly, and after more bad news today, my heart has been pretty heavy, just feelin' bogged down, ya know? so I walk out of church, and I'm met by a cool breeze, the air is crisp and clear, just breathing it in makes me feel renewed, and I look at the sky, and just beyond the leafless trees I see the moon like I have never seen it before, nestled among streaks of irridescent clouds is a perfect picture of my Savior's handiwork displayed just for me, just to ease my mind and bring a feeling of peace about me... God has protected me from so much, and then I look at the sky, it's almost like I can feel his loving arms wrapped around me, and while I can still feel the chill of the wind as it blows through my hair, I can feel His presence so strongly, so completely... I don't deserve this
a meeting, a paper, and Blackbird... tonight will be good...

mountains= fun
i have to say that had i actually not been single (::gasp::) for this trip, it might not have been as much fun, but next time, i want to go camping, so i'll need to hunt down someone to make that a possibility... um, nope, not gonna go there... :-/
i am sleepy... must run in the morning, so i'm off to bed...

uh oh, i have words now...
guys are awful, eh, scratch that, seems unfair to the few really good ones out there, but right now, i can't help by be thoroughly disgusted with men... particularly one arrogant, cocky... idiot... in Florida, i want to just go down there and disfigure him, really, he makes me so angry (<-- hey look, it's possible, apparently i do feel anger)... is there some kind of "can't be a man and say it, so this is the excuse i'm gonna throw in your face to get rid of you" handbook, because i tell you what, guys need to get a little more creative with the lies... they're getting a little over-used...
Ok, I'm done now :-D
I definitely did not get decaf coffee tonight, and that was a big fat mistake, except I saw more productivity in the following hour than this entire week, so maybe it was ok. Today was bad, well, maybe bad isn't quite the word. Draining. Yeah, that's the one I would use. I've had a lot of those lately, but that's neither here nor there. Went shopping to buy something pretty to wear tomorrow night and also indulged in a little Chris Tomlin and David Crowder Band for good measure (oh, and this new bubblemint gum, which I find quite intriguing... just thought you should know...). I tell you what, I am so ready to get out of here! Ah, just to see something new, to get away from the monotony of routine, I might just leave now.
There are 51 days left in the year. Wow. I love the holidays, no, I adore the holidays. I love the way you can light a candle and the scent brings back a thousand memories, none of which you wouldn't love to remember every day. I love holiday dinners with too many cooks in the kitchen with the sound of football coming from the living room television, and I love Thanksgiving dinner, because it's the first night we officially listen to Christmas music; I must confess to being a closet-listener throughout the rest of the year... I love decorating the Christmas tree and how it turns into an all-day affair, because you have to find the perfect spot for the tree and rearrange furniture accordingly; Daddy has to put 6 to 8 strands of white lights just so on the tree; you have to tell the story behind each of the ornaments going on the tree, even if it's just a glass ball; and after the girls put too many ornaments on one side of the tree and it starts to tip over, we have to rearrange the whole thing to distribute the weight evenly; and then after that, you have to turn all of the lights off and admire the simple and perfect beauty of bittersweet memories all concentrated in one place. I love putting out carrots and cookies for the reindeer and Santa and being old enough to make it look like they were actually there ;-) I love baking six different kinds of muffins and three different kinds of breads for my favorite people, because I don't have enough money to buy anything (except the ingredients end up costing me just as much...). I love dancing turkeys, and yes, my turkeys always dance on Thanksgiving. I love walking through bitter cold from house to house and seeing glimmers of joy on the faces of strangers as they listen to us sing. I love lighting the candles on Christmas Eve and singing Silent Night and growing old enough and close enough to God to know why that song has always brought tears to my eyes. I love seeing the looks on my sisters faces as they come into the living room and marvel at the site of wrapped treasures, and I love the "Christmas carnage" that follows. I love the candles in our front windows. I love waiting till the last minute to wrap gifts and being sent into my room with bags and bags of stuff knowing it will be hours before I can emerge, and I love frantically looking for far too well-hidden gifts at 1am on Christmas only to find them two months later. I love the way we can embrace the fact that almost everything we do for a solid month revolves around food, family, and fellowship. I love the thought of someday being able to share the holidays with my own family.
Oh wow, don't know where that came from. I am sleepy. And content :-)

THANK YOU, JESUS!!! I have had the most incredible weekend I can remember in a long time! I have fallen in love all over again- do you wanna know with who?! His name is Jesus! Woo hoo!
So Gretchen and Matt are together, and do you know what I think of that? I think it's awesome! He's a great guy! He makes me laugh a whole lot, and he can take verbal abuse, which is a must, so I give him a thumbs up... and a 10!!! ;-) Anyways... he just better be good to that crazy girl, or the wrath of Erin will fall on him, and there's pretty much nothing worse than that. I'm so happy for her, because God put a man in her life that loves Him and genuinely wants to be with her and is pursuing her- she deserves that, we all do.
After I got to meet Mr. Curry, I headed up to Rock Eagle for Harvest, and the next few hours were just... I don't know. Now, these past few months, I've watched God do some stuff that I just don't understand, and He's led me on paths that weren't exactly my #1 choice, but I went in faith that He knew what He was doing. Friday night was one of those nights. I still don't understand what happened... I drove there and to make a long story short, after an hour and a half, I found the cabin, and worship was about to start, and I didn't know where worship was, and at that point, after a really stressful day, and this nagging feeling that I just needed to get back to Sanford, I turned around and drove back. Ok, so that just sounds lame and stupid, but you have to understand that I'm not generally someone who struggles with a lack of direction- I can follow them, I can keep my bearings, and I just know where I am. Along with that, I never really have a desire to go back to Sanford. Yeah, maybe to get back to Milledgeville, but never back to Sanford- I avoid it when at all possible. The rest of the night was more of the same... I have no idea why it was so urgent for me to get back when I did, and the way the timing of it all worked out so strangely that I know God had to do it- I'm still working on this whole "God speaking to me" thing. It's incredible, but it's new, and sometimes hard to get used to. Just have to stay in the Word, but that's no problem- can't think of anything I'd rather do than spend time with my Savior!
Ya know what?! I'm totally sold out for Jesus! I've listened to people tell me to "tone it down" and not be so passionate. Well, I'm sorry! Can't do it! Would you tell a woman who just found "the One" to tone it down, stop talking about him, stop being excited about her lover? No! It's no different! Jesus has my heart, and for this season of my life, He's the only one who has it, and I want to glow like someone who's in love, I want people to look at me and know that someone completes me, and that someone is Jesus! If this passion drives people away, well, that stinks, it really does, but I'm not going to hide my faith just to make people around me comfortable! Maybe they need to be made uncomfortable!
I love being this close to God. There's such a peace and fullness in my life. But what makes me nervous is that at these times, Satan is right around the corner just waiting to steal my joy. I've seen it so much in the past few months- just when I reach these points, I enter a period of intense battle, just fighting to keep my head above water, but Jesus is always right by my side- I know that. So Satan, you can just forget about it! You lose!
::happy sigh:: I want to dance! I just wanna sing a song and dance all around this place!
Alas, work beckons, as it always does, but that's alright. This week shouldn't be too hard as far as class goes. And you know what happens on Thursday?! Gonna get that much-needed vacation, and I'm so excited! On the way, dinner with Mr. Incredible ;-) (haha! or something...) and up to Gatlinburg to shop and take pictures and enjoy the fall! I have this uncontrollable urge to just sit in the woods and just be with God- no distractions, no deadlines approaching, nobody knocking on my door, no decisions to be made, no meetings, nothing- just me and Jesus and His creation. Oh wow, I'm not kidding you, I can't think of anything else I'd rather do right now.
Oh, started reading Blue Like Jazz the other night -> READ IT! It's so awesome!
Hey hey, do you know what?! Guys are crazy! It totally cracked me up to see what the "chaparones" did to the guys last night... I really thought they'd die b/c of the broken window, but our God is merciful ;-) And I got to see Casey, which was awesome! I only see him basically every 6 months, but it just amazes me to see how much God has grown him each time I talk to him- God's got plans for that boy, there's no doubt about that! What an encouragement!
I'm tired ::yawns::
Yo yo yo! Somebody really awesome has a birthday this week! Actually a few really awesome people have birthdays this week!
I need to step away from the computer...

haha! it's 11:26, which btw is my birthday, and guess what I haven't done yet?! that's right, boys and girls, I have cleaned my not-so-dirty bathroom, organized my closet, booked a hotel, bought a few books online, vacuumed and straightened my pretty much already straightened room, done the dishes, gone food shopping, done four loads of laundry, but no way! i most certainly have not studied for the exam I have tomorrow :-P that's ok, my track record is pretty good thus far, i wouldn't want to mess it up by studying... i have had the most incredible day! holy cow, it's just been great, and if I could dance, I'd dance right now! forget it, I'll dance anyways! so here's the song for the day...
This time I've got to trust You
I've got to accept Your plan
I have tried to guide my circumstance
But there's just no way I can
When will I learn this lesson
Your ways are not like mine
Lord, help me to surrender
The control I try to have on my life
When I let it go
You take my hand and gently lead me
Then You let me know
Just how peaceful my life can be
When I let it go
Your never-ending blessings
Like a river start to flow
When I let it go
Too many times I'm searching
For the things I think I need
When I try to look for more
I always seem to give You less of me
Lord, help me gain this wisdom
My foolish mind still lacks
'Til I find a way to let go
Of the part of me I'm holding back
This time I've got to trust You
I've got to accept Your plan
I have tried to guide my circumstance
But there's just no way I can
When will I learn this lesson
Your ways are not like mine
Lord, help me to surrender

If you would be loved, be loveable.

...
It's been one of those days
When everything just feels so far away
Hope don't be a stranger
Won't you help me make it through today?
Then a voice comes calling out to me
You're never alone cause I am with you
And I will always be
I will hold you cause you belong to me
You're never alone cause I'll be with you
For all eternity
Someone tell me how I
Stumble into doubting all the time
Some days I'm all together
And other days I stand here asking why
Then a voice comes calling out to me
You're never alone cause I am with you
And I will always be
I will hold you cause you belong to me
You're never alone cause I'll be with you
For all eternity
...
Then the time came when the risk it took
To remain tight in a bud was more painful
Than the risk it took to blossom.

Confucius say, "Girl who has not been able to breathe for a week should not run 8 miles." So I ran 7. Not the brightest thing I've ever done, but it felt so good to finally get off my butt and get all of this stress and anxiety that has been building out of my system. I tell you what, if this past month hasn't turned me into a woman of prayer, I don't know what will! One more day... lots more prayer. But last night, I received yet another affirmation of the necessity of what I did, and today, my heart was encouraged so much...
I've been slowly getting my motivation back. If I'm really honest with myself, summer classes are what killed it for me, but I'd rather not admit to that since I'll be doing it again... As long as I have it back by next semester when it will really count, I'm good. I have a feeling the inevitable B or 2 will follow, but my GPA can stand it without any trouble, and I don't particularly care right now anyway- how sad is that?!
::happy sigh:: life is good, and God is good... what more could I ask for?
huh, haven't heard this song in awhile... I love it...
speak
and say the words that no one else will ever say
love
love like the world we know is over in a day
i'm gonna show you love in every language
i'm gonna speak with words that need no form
i'm gonna give you what you never had before
and you're beautiful
and i am weakened by the force of your eyes
so shine bright
to separate the truth from the lies
i'm gonna show you love
so tie me to a tree and let the smoke and ash collect
no, i won't regret to let love do what love will let
and you can drown in mixed emotions and walk across an angry sea
this is the cost of being free
and now, I am off to the grocery store, because we cannot get through a week without going at least three times, and then I will drive... somewhere... and then I will go to revival... and then I may stop by the ultimate frisbee game... and then I will go to Blackbird... and then I will go to bed (ha, we'll see about that...)

sitting in the office... listening to the train roll through town... suddenly feel compelled to grab a blanket, a cup of tea, and just sit on the front porch and take in the beautifully cool evening...
i had the most wonderful day today, and you may ask, why?... sometimes the pure simplicity of life is breathtakingly refreshing... i love that... i love how just spending time with good friends can be so uplifting, so obviously a gift from God... i wonder why people don't realize that they have been blessed... i know i'm guilty of missing it at times, but those times when it is so blatantly clear that God has been at work, those are the moments that i treasure... it seems that i have become a sentimental fool overnight... i love that too :-) i feel as though i know the end of the story, and i'm just waiting to reach the parts i remember... the familiarity is so close, i can almost feel it, even though on the surface, it appears more distant than ever...
ever look at the choices people make and wonder... why?... just gotta love 'em anyways...

i'm sick... i do not like being sick... i feel like poo...
slept on Gretchen's couch, because we watched a scary movie, and i think we'll both need years of therapy to recover from that... did not sleep well... i think my chest is caving in... sounds rather unattractive :-( had a funny dream... well, it wasn't funny, it was wonderful, but so improbable that it's hilarious... would be nice if it was true... but my track record with dreams lately is pretty rotten... makes me sad :-( and still confused... and anxious... and sad... really wishing next weekend was here so it would just be over with... tired of waiting... i need Jesus time...
was really looking forward to running this morning... the alarm definitely didn't go off... probably a good thing... couldn't breathe just laying there, what makes me think I could've done 8 this morning?... i'm kinda dumb...
trying to register for classes... if this doesn't go through, i may cry...
had a good weekend... no productivity at all... drove to Lenox just because... asserting my independence, as if I really needed to do that in the first place... found lots of pretty stuff... bought none of it... just needed "me" time... did a lot of good, although from the tone of this, you probably couldn't tell... cut me a break... I'll be better in a few hours...
want to go to the mountains now... just need to get away from here and everything it reminds me of... weird, when i return, it's like coming home... go figure...
organic and biological pollution didn't go through... i may cry... gotta get a hold of those professors... so much for my sick day... maybe later... feeling feverish... need to lay down... goodnight, moon...
on a lighter (um...?) note, a volcano on the Galapagos is erupting, and in my congested fog, i think that was the one we hiked... fun

She sits in the back seat.
It's like her face has transparency
Because we can all see exactly what she's thinking
And we all know she misses him
And we all know she's wondering
Just how things might have been
If she hadn't started noticing...
...shouldn't have listened to that cd today... managed to put myself into quite a mood... not good, not bad, just unusual... today did not start out good... had to take two drives in one day to make it to the end, but now I actually have time to just sit and spend time with my Jesus before church, and that's just what I need...
on a lighter note, only five more hours of the stinkin' K-Roger left forever :-D

Sittin' in the office waiting for fifteen pizzas to be delivered to our incredibly charitable building... thinkin' about all of the stuff that I should be doing and feeling inclined to do......nothin'. Obviously.
I miss my friends hard-core. And it's not even like I haven't seen them lately... I'm just really needing some time to just escape, ya know? Like, right now, and wouldn't ya know, I'm on duty. It amazes me how our lives are changing so rapidly. In one year, every single one of my closest friends will be graduating (or graduated)... moving on to grad school (or still being in Milly for grad school... didn't see that one coming) or out in the big bad world.
Printing out my graduation application... wondering if teaching is really what God wants me to do... trying really hard not to doubt... too many changes happening at once for my little brain to handle... trying not to be overwhelmed by it all... trying to trust...
So last week was nuts. But I got to spend time with a friend that I've really missed a lot. It amazes me how we went so long without talking to each other, but we just picked up right where we left off... and after several hours, we were sufficiently caught up on all of the life-altering changes that we'd missed out on. I hate being so busy that I don't have time for the things and people I care about most. I'm in the process of rearranging my life (yet again) to get all of my priorities straight, and so far, so good. Down to one job... manageable amount of classes... and just trying to stay motivated. That ought to do it. Road trip next month- really looking forward to that! Possible December road trip (or I may just fly outa this town!). Don't get me wrong, Milledgeville is growing on me so much, it's kinda scary (on so many levels... long story...), but I really need to get out of here... very out of here, like hours and hours away, just remind myself how much is out there. And then I can come back to my cozy little corner of civilization. Oh yeah, but back to last week... I actually remembered how to be productive... at the expense of a lot of sleep... which put me into the weekend in a serious deficit... last thing I needed...
So River of Life weekend has always been emotionally trying for me- must just be the time of year, but every single one has been an ordeal- I hate that! I just want a normal "let's serve and praise Jesus" weekend, is that so much to ask?! The first one was a good kind of ordeal (well, it seemed that way at the time), the second one was the same scenario exactly, but a really bad kind of ordeal, and this one was just, I don't know. And you know what?! I really would've loved it if there weren't four different things happening on the same day- I really just wanted to work the whole day... oh wait, that happened last year too! But anyways, the weekend ended on a really high note- or at least I let Jesus get a hold of my attitude and make me happy :-)
There are a lot of things going on that I just don't understand. It seems like God is changing every single part of my life. Oh wait, it doesn't just seem that way... that's exactly what He's doing. But in spite of all of that, He's guided me in what to do with all of these situations... hard to explain... I don't know why I'm going where I'm going, but I'm certain that the path I'm on is the one He wants me to take. The end.

The end.

"We may have the vision of God and a very clear understanding of what God wants, and we start to do the thing, then comes something equivalent to the forty years in the wilderness, as if God had ignored the whole thing, and when we are thoroughly discouraged God comes back, and revives the call, and we get the quaver in and say- "Oh, who am I?" We have to learn the first great stride of God- "I AM THAT I AM hath sent thee."
"A friend loves at all times."
"Let Him have His way; if you do not, instead of being of the slightest use to God in His Redemptive work in the world, you will be a hindrance and a clog... Why shouldn't we go through heartbreaks? Through those doorways God is opening up ways of fellowship with His Son... If through a broken heart God can bring His purposes to pass in the world, then thank Him for breaking your heart." (wow...)
"Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins."
"Don't keep your thoughts locked behind your cellar door all shrouded in a mystery. Just let them out, that's what friends are for, to give without giving the third degree; no need to be ashamed, I've been thru' it just the same. So when your path misleads, know that you can call on me."
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
"This is all I'm dreaming of... to live completely in Your love"
...
Slowly but surely, I'm beginning to get it :-) But I'm still scared :-O ::sigh:: I don't think he could ever really understand, but it's not something I can worry about... one of those times when I'd rather just walk away and not look back, but then what would I do with this burden I have on my heart?...

I had the weirdest weekend ever... oh my goodness... so we're (I'm...) starting to cook dinner on Friday night for the girls, and Kristin pitches a holy terror fit because Josh Gracin was going to be in concert this Friday, not next Friday. Just to put this in perspective, she's missed the last four years of her favorite concerts at the fair, and we hear about each one of those at least twice a day or at least that's what it seems like. So, I jokingly say, "...so let's go..." to which she responds "REALLY?!" to which I respond inwardly "dear Jesus, what have I gotten myself into" and outwardly, "sure, why not?" So Jessica and I find ourselves at a country concert... and we love country... but it was cool, because I like one of his songs (it would be a sappy love song... just what I needed...) and we also got to see some people I haven't seen in awhile. And we got Starbucks. And life was good. It was weird, because Cumming feels different- I tell you what, it's changed a whole lot since I was home last! It's crazy! And more and more, it just doesn't feel like home, or at least the kind of home it used to feel like. But anyways, got back to Milly around 3, bed to 4, slept in till 10, and begin a really awful Saturday, but that's ok- mostly just because of my own bad attitude, although, I must say, I had some pretty good reasons to have a bad attitude. Ended up driving to Atlanta again. Came back after dinner in, gosh, I don't even know exactly where we were, had a good hard core cry on 75 on the way home... crying plus headlights equals not good, but I got it all out of my system, so it's all ok :-) But... the story gets better! Church this morning was amazing! Heather sang...
How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He would give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross
My guilt upon His shoulders
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no powr's, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
and that is one of my favorite songs ever, sung by one of my favorite people ever! The sermon was... How to Respond to People Who Hurt You... was that God thing or what?! I was so fired up afterwards, I couldn't even stand it! I just have such a peace about the whole situation. I know what I'm supposed to do now, and the world tells me I should be angry, I should be upset, I should do a lot of things, but I'm so filled with Christ, there isn't room for any of that! And then, tonight, the most unexpected phone call of my life! Ok, maybe not that unexpected, but I was pretty much shocked beyond all reason. And now I'm back to just being confused- I should probably just succumb to the fact that I will never leave that state of mind... That's alright though, the one thing that matters is that I know I'm supposed to be here- no confusion there! Well, I've sufficiently wasted my time here... time to sleep...

Wow, so just for the record, I'm not borderline angry anymore... borderline crazy from speculation and over-thinking, but not angry. Was going to try to hash things out tonight, but I don't think I'm supposed to. Oswald Chambers had his usual words of wisdom for my day, and he said something about seeing the vision but just not being there yet... and then I remembered... something I was told, that I'm not really sure if I should believe right now, but I'm going to believe it just because... "I don't want you to worry"... so I won't. Or I'll try not to... really hard... I'll wait till this weekend, it'll be much easier to just talk face-to-face, and I'm really looking forward to it! At least I'll have answers... I may not like them, but I'll have them. And we have Bible study afterwards, which will be amazing! And now I have to run!

Begin midterms week. Yay, I love midterms... I just have three, one each on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So I've decided that I'm not going to miss a single class this week, isn't that exciting?! No skipping for Erin this week! I'm turning over a new leaf!
Being content with singleness is sounding better and better as these few weeks progress... I'm pretty, how shall I say it, irritated. Nope, that just doesn't quite capture it, I'm borderline angry, and that's saying a lot. Every girl wants to be pursued, right? This is a pretty widely-held, well-known concept, so how come guys have such a difficult time with this?! I'm beginning to feel like things just aren't as they seemed at first... deceived, maybe? I just don't know.
Having a salad week... feel like a beached whale... so apparently I'm a really hard-core emotional eater, and last week was way too emotional for someone like me. Weird, I haven't really felt emotion for awhile... I don't think I actually started to feel anything before about four weeks ago... hmm... moving right along...
Yay for October and pending cool weather! Yay for all of the fun things I get to do in October! Yay for Jesus, who is the only reason I got through last week! ::happy sigh::

So this week was probably the hardest week of my entire life. I'm not even kidding, I don't remember ever being broken to this point, but I know it was necessary. It still hurts, but it's out of my hands now. I've done what God wanted, and now, all I can do is pray. Even though my heart has ached like it never has before, I am filled with a peace that I just can't explain except to say it's the kind that only God gives- y'all know I couldn't fake this or make it up on my own!
On a completely unrelated note, I got to be a stupidly giddy girl again the other day, and wow. I definitely didn't see this coming, but then again, I think I always have. ::happy sigh:: And God's got this one so wrapped up in His Will, it's just the coolest thing to see! Just goes to show you, if you just stop making stinkin' plans and just let God do His thing, He will bless you far greater than you could imagine! It's overwhelming! But this distance thing?... God, I know You did that on purpose, and I really am grateful for it for a bunch of different reasons... it's just times like these that I just want to grab my keys and say, "forget Milledgeville!!!" and just drive down there (almost did that on Monday... wow, that might've been really funny had the circumstances been different...). Ok, I'm gonna stop, cuz I could probably go on for a VERY long time ;-)
The weather is absolutely beautiful today! Had a really good run this morning (even if it was two hours late and three miles shorter than planned!), and I just want to go walk somewhere, except I have a million and one things to do this afternoon. Oh well. Such is life! But thanks, Jesus, for the sun and the cool weather and the breeze and everything!

Oh wow, this song has been stuck in my head for the past couple of days, playing nonstop... one of those songs that's absolutely perfect for what I'm feeling and thinking... I just love it!
Where You Lead Me
-Mercy Me
What is life?
A thousand roads, a thousand ways
Why am I so afraid to move
I crossed the line
I'm stepping out so come what may
I give it all cause I'm drawn to You
As long as my heart is beating...
Where You lead me I will follow
Where You lead me I give my life away
Where You lead me I will follow
Forever and a day
Forever and a day
I can't deny Your very presence is my life
And why would I ever turn away
Cause deep inside I know that I cannot rely
On anything less than faith
As long as my heart is beating...
Where You lead me I will follow
Where You lead me I give my life away
Where You lead me I will follow
Forever and a day
This is all I'm dreaming of
To live completely in Your love
So this is life
Where You lead me I give my life away
Where You lead me I will follow
Forever and a day
Where You Lead Me

I had the best day ever today! Let me tell you why!
I had amazing Jesus time this morning! Yeah man, it was great :-D Went for a 5 mile run. Started off to class and then ::boom:: I felt like poo. So I went to the Honors lounge and proceeded to spend the next hour writing down all of the jumbled up thoughts running through my head on paper, which made me feel really awesome... Talked to Jessica, which was great, because I never get to do that anymore! I love that girl!
Went to meet Miss Nancy for lunch, and ended up going with Miss Ellen too, which was awesome, because they're great! Went to some country buffet, for which I am sure I will pay greatly... I really can't eat like this all of the time! How do they stay so skinny, because this crazy Yankee girl can't handle that! Spent the next two hours talking with Miss Nancy about every little thing. Got to talk to Mark for a little while too, which really made me smile :-) <-- see? just like that!
Ran some errands, answered some emails, watched some tv ::gasp:: and now I'm off to watch Gilmore Girls, because I want to, that's why!
This freedom and satisfaction I've found in Christ is absolutely incredible! When I look back over the past year, I'm amazed, because I can see how He's been at work... everything is falling into place, to what end, I don't know, but it's so clear that He's led me right to this point, and that is such an awesome feeling! I wish I could describe just how much I am in love with Jesus... this life that I'm living is all for Him, and I've fallen so hard so many times, it amazes me that He still loves me and works in me. Wow. ::happy sigh:: I want everyone to know this peace, this joy that is mine right now.
Oh, and another song... ;-)
"sunny days keepin' the clouds away
I think we’re coming to a clearing and a brighter day
so far away and still I think they say
the wait will make the heart grow stronger
or fonder, I can’t quite remember, anyway"

Song for a friend that's been on my heart...
Praise you in this storm
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear
You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
Praise you in this storm
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

Woah! I was just reading in Psalms, and for those of you who have any idea about what's been going on for the past week, I just read the coolest verse!
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
-Psalm 7:7
So that was just really cool, stupid Satan trying to make me doubt, but no way! Not with my Jesus with me! Yeah man! We win!

So... what a week. That's all I have to say. Ok, I lied. I have a LOT to say. I'm exhausted. Just plain wiped out. I don't even know where to begin...
Well, I had a lot of tests this week. Too many. I don't remember feeling too stressed about it, but apparently I must have been, because I can feel myself "destressing," and my body is just about on the verge of being non-functional. Did an 8 mile this morning, and I can still feel my muscles burning... not good. I'm hungry, just so you know. Anyways, so begin Wednesday night, and another full night of studying. I was busy cramming organic chem into my head when it occurred to me that there was no way I was going to get it all in, and I was going to fail the exam with flying colors, so I did something I've never done before in any shape or form in my entire life- I dropped the class. I've been pulled in so many directions, and to be honest, school is very much at the top of my priority list, and it's been keeping me from the things I love, so I said, "Ok, don't be stupid, you need to scale back on your academic endeavors, my dear." I'm so excited, because I might have time to, I don't know, sleep or go to church or hang out with my favorite people. This week was ridiculous on the sleep front. I stopped trying to keep track. I was basically just taking naps when I got the chance, but I can think of only one night when I actually went to bed (and even that was just for 5 hours... although that was an amazing night's rest!). I shouldn't complain, I know it could be ten times worse, but I just needed to do something for my sanity. Next week will be so great, because it will be so much easier to have some kind of routine... 5 am Jesus time... 6 am run... get ready... class... study... hang out!... study... church... study... friends! Ah yeah, it's gonna be so great! Other than that, Induction went well. And... ok, so all I did besides that and go to class was work and study. I lead a very boring existence- oh wait, change that! I LED a very boring existence! Not anymore! Freedom from chemistry... well, maybe not ;-) Had lunch with Miss Nancy today, and it was great! I just love her so much! We could talk forever! It was great :-)
::sigh:: I want out of M'ville in the worst way. It's gotta start getting cool soon, right? I want to go camping like you wouldn't believe... just want to get away... Go up to north Georgia or even better, up into North Carolina. No wait! How 'bout up to Pennsylvania or, oh wow... someday I'm going to go camping in New England in the fall... that would be incredible...

Just for the record, I am the dumbest girl ever, and I just love how wonderful friends like Miss Brittany Thompson can put things right in perspective ;-) Thanks man, I needed that... fun times... or at least amusing times!
So... I'm still happy! Aren't you all happy that I'm still happy?! Thanks, I knew you would be :-) Only unfun thing that has happened is I can't go to the P-A this weekend, but I think God has made it pretty clear that He just doesn't want me to go... not sure why... I'd like to think I know why, but remember, I'm a dumb girl, so the chances of me really having this figured out are slim. But anyways, this weekend is gonna be incredible, even if it is full of stupid work! I get to hang out with pretty much all of my favorite people :-) Not to mention, I will be even MORE happy, because all of my tests will be done, and I will be able to breathe, and I am a pretty big fan of breathing.
So Gretchen has loads of excitement tonight, and I can't wait! We were talking today about how awesome it is that God's blessings are kind of coming at the same time, different ways, but the same idea... all at the same time! I think He's having a pretty good time watching all of this unfold, because I know I am! Wow! I just have such a peace about his whole situation... I'm right where God wants me, and that's a pretty good feeling. Just gotta keep pursuing His Will, because it's the best!
Oh right, organic lab... my favorite... gotta run!

Oh right, organic lab... my favorite... gotta run!

So this must be the week of updates, because I think I've updated this thing more in this week than I have in the past six months... But anyways, I'm happy. I mean, really really happy :-) I can't even explain why... I tried to tell Jessica, and the best I can come up with (in a really vague nutshell... can't divulge too many details of my exciting life to the world!) is that I feel that same joy I've always felt in Christ, except different. Wow, see how helpful that description was?! Communication is not my forte. But for the past few days, I just haven't been able to stop smiling! I feel like I'm bustin' at the seams! I've never felt like this before... and it's really awesome :-D Yay for Jesus and waiting on His timing and being in His Will and so many blessings and so many other things that I wish I could put on here, but I'm going to leave you all waiting in anticipation! Aren't I mean?! Mwuahaha! <--that was my evil laugh, just so you know
Off to RAISE... even Housing can't steal my joy, and that's sayin' a lot!

Oh wow, I am absolutely beside myself with tiredness. I feel completely drained, like there's nothing left in me. Emotion makes me tired. Maybe I'll just stop feeling... it takes too much energy ;-) Of course, adequate sleep would probably help with that, but whatever, that would be way too easy to fix.
I'm confused. How can the answers be so obvious yet so incredibly elusive all at the same time? Was talking to Amanda about it, and we agree- this phase of, goodness, I don't even know what, is not fun. But it is. But it's so aggravating. Ugh! I don't get it! Can't I just fast-forward a few weeks and get my answers and go on with my happy little existence?!
My ever-expanding confusion has not diminished one thing which I know for certain, one thing that has become increasingly apparent as the day wears on. My hope is in Christ. Nothing else. It can't be. I've come too far, gone through too much to return to where I was. I am amazed at the blessings he has allowed me to experience as of late, and even if that is all, then I am grateful. And ever hopeful.
I need a song for how I feel. If I still lived with Brittany, she would be the wonderful person that she is and find me a song, I just know it...

Hey, did you know it's September 5th? Isn't that the craziest thing you've ever heard?! Time flies...
Been out of sorts the past few days... reflective, I suppose. I've been glued to the television lately (ok, so "glued" for me isn't too terribly attached, but you get the idea). It is unbelievable how one hurricane, one really huge hurricane, has turned the lives of so many people upside down. If I just sit and watch and take it all in, I have a hard time distinguishing the television from reality, as if they were two different things... makes me want to cry, but more than that, makes me want to get out of Milledgeville and do something about it! I've been struggling the past few weeks, because I know that God does not ultimately have me in Milledgeville (don't really know where/what He's got planned... another story...), and if I didn't have school, I'd be on the Gulf Coast right now. School is the only thing keeping me here; I'm already trained and ready to go, it wouldn't be a stretch at all for me to have been sent down there... stupid school... So I'm here in Milledgeville, watching tv, and getting increasingly restless. My heart hurts for the people down there... so I'll join with so many others in this country who feel the same way and just pray. Just pray.
This semester is shaping up to be a pretty rough semester all around. And by the way, do you know what makes me crazy?! When people battle my independence... try to rope me into the incredibly narrow scope of the "modern college student." Makes me want to throw things. Big, heavy things at people who talk too much. Grrr. Busy is good, but I could do without the classes. But then again, I'm kind of enjoying most of my classes. Can't I just do one thing at a time? Gosh, this is almost like real life or something!
Hehe, I just got really tired and was about to be really upset, when I realized that I'm sitting here in the dark... funny how the dark makes you so very sleepy... I'm a nerd.
I left my straight hair thingy at home, and that makes me sad :-( <-- see, this is me being sad.
I'm going to the P-A in two weeks! I'm so excited, I could just do a jig :-P
Worked in the yard at East Point all day today, and got a funny burn AGAIN! I'm ready for winter and sweaters, because this summer has just been one funny-looking burn after another, and I think I'd rather just be pasty white than have 13 different burn patterns across my body.
We's runnin' lots! Two eight-miles in a row! And for one of those, I swear somebody slipped me something in my coffee, because I sprinted the last mile of it... felt like I was flying!
off to the races ;-)

Do you know what's really cool? To be renewed, that's what! And do you know what's also really cool?! To know that you're right where God wants you! But wait! There's more! Guess what else is amazing?! To know that when you finally stop playing it cool and just cry out to God, He hears you, and He answers in a mighty way!! Praise Jesus!
Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars.
Psalms 148: 1-3

Psalms 148: 1-3
Oh, another official favorite song... I can have lots, right?
There's more that rises in the morning
Than the sun
And more that shines in the night
Than just the moon
It's more than just this fire here
That keeps me warm
In a shelter that is larger
Than this room
And there's a loyalty that's deeper
Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs
That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes
For the allegiance
I owe only to the Giver
Of all good things
So if I stand let me stand on the promise
That you will pull me through
And if I can't, let me fall on the grace
That first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy
That has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man
Who is longing for his home
There's more that dances on the prairies
Than the wind
More that pulses in the ocean
Than the tide
There's a love that is fiercer
Than the love between friends
More gentle than a mother's
When her baby's at her side
And there's a loyalty that's deeper
Than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs
That I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes
For the allegence
I owe only to the Giver
Of all good things
So if I stand let me stand on the promise
That you will pull me through
And if I can't let me fall on the grace
That first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy

Erin's official favorite song...
The pathway is broken
And the signs are unclear
And I don’t know the reason why you brought me here
But just because you love me the way that you do
I’m gonna walk through the valley
If you want me to
Cause I’m not who I was
When I took my first step
And I’m clinging to the promise you’re not through with me yet
So if all of these trials bring me closer to you
Then I will go through the fire
If you want me to
It may not be the way I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world that’s not my home
But you never said it would be easy
You only said I’d never go alone
So when the whole world turns against me
And I’m all by myself
And I can’t hear you answer my cries for help
I’ll remember the suffering your love put you through
And I will go through the valley
If you want me to
The pathway is broken
And the signs are unclear
And I don’t know the reason why you brought me here
But just because you love me the way that you do
I’m gonna walk through the valley
If you want me to
Cause I’m not who I was
When I took my first step
And I’m clinging to the promise you’re not through with me yet
So if all of these trials bring me closer to you

I am sleepy. The end.
So classes start in dos dias. Wow, so things weren't busy enough, so we're just gonna throw a little class into the mix. Sounds like fun :-) Training is done. Now that was a good time. I totally underestimated the amount of time that was gonna take up- pretty much every waking moment (and some unpleasant dreams...) were consumed by Housing since my last class ended (which was, btw, a very happy day). Hm, just found a spot on my leg that I must've missed shaving this morning, hate when that happens. Anyways, made it through check-in without a hitch, although I don't really remember that day- no sleep the night before, a 4 am run, a 6 am Bible study, 8 am check-in... 6 pm bed time :-D
I'm so excited about this year's Housing staff- they are all SO awesome! I never would have imagined that I would have found such an amazing group of people who are SO in love with Jesus in training! Thank you, Jesus! They are an incredible encouragement. Lenka, well goodness, she lived in my building last semester, and I never got to know her, but she is so much fun and has such strength in Christ. And Daniel, wow, he is quite possibly the funniest, most amusing person I've met in a long time, and I just love how when he starts to talk about Jesus, he gets so excited- you can see his eyes light up, and he can hardly contain his passion! And Jon, another wow, that kid has GOT to go into the ministry- I could listen to him talk forever- I learn so much in just a few minutes- he's one of those guys that has "wisdom beyond his years"- one of those people that you are just so glad has chosen to be obedient to Christ. Goodness, that's not even all of them- they are such a blessing to me!
My residents are so awesome! I just love all of them! Sure makes my "job" easier. They just seem like a really great group of people, and I'm really looking forward to getting to know them better- like, for real, I'm such a nerd! I'm really excited about it!
Did an 8 mile run the other day. I should always drink coffee before I run, not to mention, some good ole hard-core Jesus time sure makes it easier. I miss my family- can't remember the last time I went home. Headed out this weekend, although I'd really like to be here the first weekend, but they'll just have to understand.
Ok, I'm sleepy for real this time. Goodnight world :-)

sorta mostly moved into Sanford... my room is way too cool ;-) the bathroom... is not :(
last exam tomorrow... probably don't need to take it since one of them gets dropped... but my prof won't say how much the curve on the first two tests will be, so I'm gonna have to pull an all-nighter for a measely five points that I'll probably get through a curve... I'm peeved
my face makes me want to cry... no really, stupid body/humidity/stress that makes my face look like I'm pubescent or something stupid like that... I eat NO junk, and I'm such a skincare freak, inside and out, so why in the world do I, of all people, have this problem?! I'll tell you why, because I run in the stinkin' 500% humidity and sweat 4 pounds of water off every day... if it's not one thing, it's another...
I need to finish my chem homework... but it's hard :(
my very good friend is sad which makes me very sad :( boys are so stinkin' dumb, even the good ones, but it's ok, because I know that Jesus will bring extravagent love if we just follow His perfect Will :-D
ok, I've procrastinated enough... time to torture myself with chem
ooo, Higher Grounds is my new favorite place ;-) I suppose it has to be if you're willing to drive two hours to get to it!
I love my life... thank you, Jesus! :-)

Back from Chicago. Well, that was quite a whirlwind trip! Pretty fun, though. Lots of quality time con mi padre, which was really cool. Ate real Chicago pizza (had to work really hard for that one... will divulge the details of that story later...), which was also really good. Chicago traffic may actually be worse than Atlanta, and that was not good.
Oops, gotta run back to class. Ick, getting a little tired of class...

Felt like poo at work today. Seriously. Like a big pile of poo. It's amazing how your body hates you when you only drink one glass of water in a day but sweat off about 13 glasses (give or take). Stinkin' Georgia humidity. That's it. I've had it. I'm going to Chicago for the weekend.
The end :-)
Oh btw, only class and lab tomorrow, and no work, which means I get to take a nap :-D This is, by far, the most excitement I have experienced since... Sunday. Or maybe Monday. Anyways, it's at least been a good 24 hours since I've been excited beyond all reason, so I feel like I deserve this nap. It will be delightful. However, it will, most likely, be interrupted by some guy trying to cut our lawn or by flying roaches or my own inability to flip the off switch to my brain.
Hey! did y'all know it's summer? So why is it just as busy now as during the un-summer? Something to ponder... Could it be possibly I've reached that age where ::gasp:: there is no summer vacation?! :-( <-- That's my sad face, just so you know.
Aw, man! I was gonna be asleep by 11. Oops...

Ok, so I was tired? But apparently not really into the whole sleeping thing, so I found this insanely long quiz that the wonderful, amazing Amy filled out (aw, I miss her!)... y'all don't really have to torture yourselves with this... much love <3

210. HOLDS YOUR HEARING: ??? uh, hypothetically speaking, if I had a hearing aid, you could hold my hearing, but I'm doing ok in the hearing department, so I guess I hold my hearing ???
211. WHO IS THE NICEST FRIEND YOU KNOW?: didn't we cover this already?
212. WHO DO YOU WANT TO MARRY?: someone
213. Time you finished: 2:27 by my computer, except I think my computer clock pooped out... it's really 3:05 (how do computer clocks get slow?...)
I do believe I have wasted enough time. Goodnight, moon.
So I'm especially reflective on this lovely... eh, I suppose it's morning now. Whatever. I banned chemistry for the rest of the day, which was really nice, except for the first time this summer, I experienced boredom ::gasp:: Tomorrow, I'll have to study, because I can't stand being bored- so that's why I overload myself with stuff to do... I get it now ;-)
Have you ever stopped and wondered just how much God has protected you from? I'm positive He's kept me from some pretty awful stuff, and to be honest, I'm really surprised. I don't deserve to be kept from harm, from hurt, from all of the stuff life can be full of that is less than ideal. I know He's been doing this for my whole life, and for awhile, I thought He did it because I was just a little kid who didn't have any control over her circumstances, but He's still doing it! When I look at where I am now and where I came from, I'm amazed, because I know it was only God's leading that got me here- now that's love! It's exciting, because I wonder what else He has in store for me :-) At this point, I've just decided to roll with it- no more plans (well, I'm trying...)- I just want to allow God to guide me, and slowly but surely, He's teaching me how to do that. ::sigh:: Life makes me tired, but in my heart, there's a peace, because although I don't know where I'm going or how to get through, I know that He knows, and that's all that matters!
I've been feeling really weird lately. Can't put my finger on it. Can't sleep at night. Can't get the motivation to run (although I've been forcing myself to... pretty pathetically slow runs...). No motivation to study. Very introspective- scratch that- just plain spaced out. Feel like I'm walking, wandering through a haze of blurred thoughts, and none of it makes much sense- sort of overwhelmed, yet I feel like I have a grip on it all- wow, I think I've just thrown out the most random, contradictory assortment of thoughts. Fall semester will be nice- I need to settle into some kind of schedule- now, every day, every week, every month holds something different- nothing exciting, just something that throws off my routine- I really like routine :-) Don't get me wrong, I like spontaneity, but for those normal productive things we have to accomplish, I need some kind of structure. Ever feel like something's about to change that's really big? Maybe that's what's got me feeling so unsettled. Oh well. I'll deal with it as it comes.
Holy cow! I'm actually tired! And after eating a banana split with Autumn and Amanda (Bring Your Own Banana night at Brusters!), I suspected the sugar rush would keep me up till next spring- pleasant surprise! I think I'll read myself to sleep- started The Count of Monte Cristo- forgot how much I love that book- incredible book.
Off to count sheep...

Well, it's that time again... time to study, so I decided it's time to update a bit instead :-) So, I haven't written in this thing for a really long time, and as much as I'd hate to start studying I can't put it off forever, so I'll just give y'all a sneak peek... you'll have to ask for more details if'n ya want 'em :-)
First thing that comes to mind is running, since I'm madly trying to hydrate myself for tomorrow morning... oops... my five thousand ounces of water today didn't really happen. We're up to 6.5 miles now, but we're just doing that a few times a week- the rest are 5 mile runs. Good stuff! We also decided to meet earlier so that we can make sure we're getting our quiet time in- if we have time to run, we sure gotta have time for Jesus! It's awesome! I don't think I'd be able to have stepped up the run without having that boost from spending time in the Word just before (not to mention some serious "please help me not pass out" prayers!).
Work is good- just your standard grocery store stuff really. Nice to have something predictable and, for the most part, mindless to do for a change- and I get paid for it! What a deal! Right now, I spend most of the time cashiering, but they have me trained for CSS, which in theory is like the GSTLs at Target, but in Kroger, it's just a "glorified bagger," as one of my lovely coworkers so eloquently put it. I don't mind- it's not like I haven't done it before- and the way people are buying beer and soda, I should have some nice arms to show for it! More to tell about the J-O-B, but I save the juicy details for a choice few ;-)
As far as that whole academic part of the summer goes, it totally kicked my butt, but it's ok. I suppose that's why I'm here, well, for the most part. Doing the whole biology deal this month- stayed up last night, exam this morning, worked till 7, went to church, came home for dinner, and to my pleasant surprise, I managed to pull off (ok, that's a lie, Jesus totally got by back on this one!) an A for the class! Now I just gotta finish up the lab tomorrow, and I'll get a blissful 4 day weekend before I start chem II in July. I'm such a nerd! Oh well, at least I'll finish on time, which will be nice, b/c Milly is great and all, and it's not that I don't love pulling all-nighters, but I'm kinda looking forward to settling down into a routine that stands a chance of lasting more than a few months. I realized yesterday that I have moved every three months since I don't remember when- we're talking 6 moves since last spring till I move back to Sanford after this summer... it's beginning to get old, but it's done wonders for clutter reduction :-)
Still working on my website for the Galapagos trip- started scanning pictures- all 17 rolls- all $200 worth. It's gonna take some time... patience... I have so many stories to tell and things to share... I won't even begin to get started on that now... y'all will just have to wait!
Ok, some random details... I got eaten alive by mosquitos last weekend, because I'm the genius that weeded Diane's garden without any bug spray- had to skip class on Monday, b/c I didn't sleep at all that night and I thought I was going to have to rip my legs off- fortunately, I didn't- after about 90 alfalfa, I'm aok. And how is it that I can lay out for an hour and get the slightest bit of a "tan," but after 30 minutes of working outside, I'm burnt. Oh well, can't win! I love Starbucks, not even really the coffee (although it is quite delightful). I think if we had one in Milly that wasn't always overrun with the hustle and bustle of people, but something more along the lines of what they have at the one in Haddonfield (my first love!), I would always study there. Don't know what it is about it, but it's just great. Even the one in Alpharetta or Johns Creek or Cumming- basically one that isn't in a college town. I continue to be baffled by men, but I find that I am, more than ever, just plain irritated with them. Now, I could name a few wonderful guys I know who treat me with respect and treat me like a lady, but I struggle, because there are some that really don't act that way that kind of overshadow them in my mind. For instance, I had some Mexican man come into Kroger the other night, and I know enough Spanish to know I didn't like what I heard, and he just leaned over the counter staring at me while I rang up their groceries- just plain disgusts me how some men think this is acceptable. To be honest, I don't understand why I, of all people, have issues with this. I don't want to draw that kind of attention to myself, and after Bible study tonight, I feel like I need to be so careful about that. We talked about modesty and how even very godly men can struggle with lust, and how we, as women, should do our part to help them. Hard to explain, but I feel so burdened to pray for my future husband about this one- don't know if he's struggling a lot with it now or what, but I think it's something I really need to do for him (well, not just for him, but you get the point).
Oh goodness, I just kept on going there. Sorry folks! I know life doesn't sound too exciting, but one of these days, when I have more time, I'll have to share all of the awesome things God's been up to- He just got a hold of me, and He's turning my world upside down and backwards and inside out and spinning it around like crazy, but it's an exciting ride :-)

Woah. That's all I've got to say.
Ok, that was a lie, I have a ton that I could say, in fact, I'm quite confident that, if I didn't have a pesky class tomorrow, eh, later today, I could keep going for the next 14.37 hours. I'm at Gretchen's now, so while I've got a moment, I'll just give y'all a few highlights from my trip... more to come... with pictures... lots of them (I believe I'm pushin' the 500 mark... hehe)
1. Sea lions are so cool :-) While snorkeling, Amanda and I got to play a little "Chicken"... she would swim VERY fast towards a head-on collision with us, and then at the last possible second, dive right underneath you and splash bubbles in your face (except she got a little attitude with me once and smacked me with a flipper...). Then we played tag... she was swimming in circles around me, so I started swimming in circles to try to keep up with her (which must have been a very amusing sight for Amanda), and she just wore me slap out. It was so awesome! :-D
2. Volcanoes are cool. Someday, I'm going to live on one. The view is nice :-)
3. low blood pressure + 15,500 ft on Cotapaxi = 1 very sick Erin (so there go my dreams of doing a little Himalaya mountain climbing... sad day...)
4. our cab driver ran 7 red lights last night on the way back to the hotel... apparently, it's ok to treat a stop light like a stop sign
5. I have a tan, but you should see me quick, b/c it's peeling away... ;-)
oops, gotta run!

I'm home :-) Yay for home... it's just lovely. Trying to take it all in while I can, because I'm not sure when I'll be back. I leave for Ecuador next Friday, and after that, well, between work and class, I probably won't get back except for a random night here and there for the rest of the summer, and then school will start, and I want to keep my job through the school year, so yeah, won't be seeing much of this place for awhile. Kinda makes me sad. I love Milledgeville, don't get me wrong, but it's not my kind of place for the long-term. It sounds dumb, but I thrive on the activity and bustle of this area... I love it. For instance, there's a bluegrass festival in town this weekend. Now, I just think that's the coolest thing ever, but we don't have stuff like that down in Milly. The only cultural stuff that happens is connected with the school, and I need a bit more than that.
Ok, got that out of my system, it's all good! I did some more shopping for my trip today. Got some really awesome running shoes... paid a pretty penny for 'em too, but for as many miles as those things will see, it's worth it. Turns out that the reason my feet have been hurting so bad is because I have a super high arch and my feet roll in when I walk, so this special foot place got me all set up with these awesome shoes that will prevent me from rolling in and special insoles that will support me feet properly... should keep my feet from hurting and reduce the pressure on my knees and straighten my back and hips out and just overall make my body happy which makes me, well, happy :-) Sorry, I know you all wanted to know about my new shoes...
I got some really awesome skirts and shirts and shorts and sandals and I finally got a travel alarm clock and I got some cool pullover fleece things from LLBean. I'm going to get snorkeling stuff tomorrow, and I have a doctor's appt to get a tetanus shot and more motion sickness goodies. Then I have to run back to Milly to work tomorrow night... exciting... should get some decent tips which will help pay for all of the things I squandered my money on today ;-)
A big ole storm is rolling in... I love storms... gets the blood pumping and makes me, as silly as it sounds, excited. Maybe someday I'll go back to school and get that meteorology certificate from Tech or something. Who knows? I still think it would be really cool to work in the Hurricane Center... I will forever be a nerd!
I'm so excited about my trip, I can hardly believe that I'm gonna get to see and do all of this stuff! Oh yeah, so La Cumbre erupted this week, isn't that exciting?! We were supposed to hike that one- I think we still will.
Ok, so about that storm, it's super close and I think my daddy would be very displeased if he knew I was still on the computer, so I'm signing off. Night all. I love and miss y'all so much!

I am tired. No, scratch that. I am exhausted. Just plain pooped out.
Not really sure, once again, where I left off, and to be honest, I'm not sure why I even bother to keep writing/typing in this silly thing. Only reason I'm doing it now is b/c I'm on duty, and I don't feel like studying, so yeah, here I am.
I cut my hair yesterday. It's gone, all of it. Yay for Locks of Love and for my new bob. It's weird. I can't get used to it at all- I like it, it's just VERY different. I've never had hair above my shoulders ever, well, maybe when I was two, it was a bit short. It was a very scary experience. They put it back in a ponytail, and then just hacked off the whole thing! It makes me laugh, because all of the girls who have seen it are surprised and at least make some comment about how I have no hair left, but I don't think a single guy has said anything about it yet- while running around today, I've passed about ten guys who I know fairly well, and none of them actually verbally acknowledged that a foot of my hair is gone... they just look genuinely and profoundly confused... I'm amused :-)
Went to the Braves game last night. Fun. No really, it was. If you take out all of the rain and the terribly cold temperature, it was incredible. Went with Gretchen, and we met her brother and some of his friends from way up in NC. We got seats way up in the nosebleed section, which was actually good, because we just moved up a few more rows and we were under that little (?) overhang thingy, so at least we were somewhat (??) dry. Then went to Longhorns. I miss Atlanta. A lot. This summer will be good, but boo hiss, I'm gonna be working and studying the WHOLE summer. That's alright. It's necessary. Gotta make some cash money and gotta get a few classes out of the way so that I can finish here sometime soon. Places to go, people to see, don't ya know?
I want to sleep.
I moved just about all of my stuff our of my room today into the house. I'm excited :-) The house is super cute. Nice little front porch, wood floors, backyard, free laundry, you know, the works. I'm so stoked about not eating in Saga this summer- I'm gonna actually be able to be so healthy, which makes me really happy. Did a fitness test yesterday- that whole aerobic exercise deal, yeah, I've got that one down super good (eh, what's with "super?"...), but body composition, not so much. Gotta eat better and keep workin' out like I'm doing already- it's all good, but a little discouraging. Ok, I'm over it :-)
Gotta clean my room. Badly. Stickiness from tea and lemonade all over. Long story. Ask me later.
I want to sleep.
I got the job at Applebees (hehe, I typed Appleboos accidentally, struck me as hilarious, almost laughed out loud, almost). Yay. I really am excited about it. I think it'll be fun, and hopefully I'll be super good at it so I can get loads of tips ;-) Could sure use a little cash money. At least, if I wanna stay in school. But who wants to do that? It's so overrated.
I want to go to Ecuador. I say, no way! to classes- let's just get on a plane and go. So there.
...so... tired...
Hey hey, guess what? I love Jesus ::happy sigh::
